The dental hygienist is responsible for providing excellent oral hygiene, appropriate preventative, and educational preventative information to the patients CHN dental clinic. The values of the Center are transparency, empathy, quality, and value.Duties and Responsibilities:Provides clinical oral hygiene services including dental prophylaxis, scaling, sealant application, fluoride application, and exposing radiographs consistent with accepted professional practices and standards in compliance with applicable state law and clinic protocolsObtains baselines oral hygiene assessment data based upon accepted principles of oral hygiene and periodontal careRecords patient hygienist transactions as they occur in the patient's dental record so that the dental record accurately and completely reflects the natureProvides oral health education, conducts oral hygiene classes, and appropriate individual counseling for all clinic patientsOversees the activities of dental or hygiene student oral health education presentationsPerforms independent procedures as delegated and directed by the Dental Director in accordance with state regulations and law as well as Dental Department protocols and directivesAssists in the maintenance of all Dental Departments areas in compliance with Dental Department directives and policiesas well as center policies and procedures relative to infection control, exposures control, and safety issuesResponsible for personal compliance with all applicable federal, state, local and center rules, regulations, protocols andprocedures governing the practice of dental hygiene and the clinical provision of dental hygiene services as well as those relating to, but no limited to,personal issues, workplace safety, public health and confidentialityCoordinates the day-to-day work functions of SFACHNOther duties as assigned within scopeRequired Skills/Abilities:Ability to communicate clearly and effectivelyAbility to work with people of all socioeconomic levelsStrong team player with a focus on collaborationHighly capable and knowledgeable to pre-assess and treatment planAbility to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaintsAbility to handle multiple projects simultaneously and have a creative approachConsumer advocate for quality health care and servicesAbility to be adaptable to change, flexibilityPreferred Skills/Abilities:Bilingual ability in SpanishOpen dental knowledgeRequired Education and Experience:High school diploma or GEDGraduation from an accredited dental hygiene school, Associate's degree, or Bachelor's degreeValid and current Registered Dental Hygienist licenseCPR/BLSPreferred Education and Experience:NoneSupervision Responsibilities:NonePhysical RequirementsOccasionally required to sitFrequently required to talk and standFrequently required to utilize hand and finger dexterityThe employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 poundsSpecific frequently vision abilities required by this job include: Close vision, Color vision, Peripheral vision, Depth perception, and Ability to adjust focusWork Environment:BLOODBORNE PATHOGENS EXPOSURE LEVEL: 1 (HIGH)Noise Level: ModeratePutting Our Heart into Your CareMyCHN (Community Health Network) is a local healthcare provider dedicated to providing excellence in care and service.
