SUMMARY OF COMPANYSouthwest Shipyard, LP provides gas freeing
and cleaning services, steaming, and flaring services, Barge and
boat repair, Surface preparation and painting, water treatment and
new construction services to the commercial and government marine
industry. Southwest Shipyard owns and operates four (4) shipyards
in South Texas with direct deep-water access to the Gulf of Mexico.

responsibilities are to assist in all waterfront jobs and be
accountable for performing general deck duties as assigned by the
Boat Captain. Deckhand is responsible for performing daily checks
on engines, housekeeping, and the appearance of the vessel,
securing deck lines, and a variety of other related duties.
Typically, they will work under the close supervision of the Boat
Captain.WORK SCHEDULEThe standard work schedule for all deckhands
is 14 days on the boat, and 7 days off; however, this work schedule
may vary. Position: DeckhandWork Schedule: 14 days on the boat / 7

- Assist in the maintenance of the yard boats.
- Assist the Boat Captain in all shifting of barges.
- Maintain all boat apparatus: winches, cables, ropes.
- Loads and unloads materials from vessels/barges and
docks/trucks.
- Cleans the deck of the vessel regularly and maintains equipment
exposed to outside elements.
- Keeps deck clear of obstructions that may cause slips, falls,
or otherwise be a safety hazard.
- Maintains the overall appearance of the vessel, ensuring that
proper storage and housekeeping are observed.
- Understand and follow all company regulations and safety
rules.
- Tie up the barges to the fixed structure onshore or other
barges.
- Use appropriate ropes and procedures for tying.
- Contact the Boat Captain for situations requiring his
involvement.
- Follow the instructions of the Boat Captain.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

employee must be able to perform the job's essential functions with
or without reasonable workplace accommodation. The individual must
also be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal
protective equipment (PPE) to work or visit within areas where it
is required. This includes a hard hat, safety glasses, life vest,
respirators, ear plugs, steel-toed shoes, personal flotation
devices (PFD's), or other protective equipment as required by the
work performed and the location the work is being done. In
addition, Employees in this position must also be capable of:
- Walking, stepping, climbing, or otherwise moving from one
location on the job site to another, which may be of varying
heights and access parameters.
- Accessing and exiting machines safely.
- Standing, stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, squatting,
climbing, or sitting for long periods of time.
- Repetitive movements by feet, shoulders, arms, wrists, hands,
and back in the performance of work.
- Climbing vertical ladders of a height of 6ft or greater.
- Working in confined work areas and/or elevated heights.
- Frequent lifting and carrying of objects and the ability to
lift and carry in access of 120 lbs with assistance.
- Adapting to temperature changes, outdoor conditions, and
prolonged exposure to dusty, wet, or humid conditions, loud noises,
and vibration. The Company expects and requires all employees to
observe and fulfill all safety responsibilities as outlined in
workplace safety training and actively work toward maintaining a
safe workplace. Failure to do so can result in disciplinary action,
up to and including termination of employment. Regular attendance
and punctuality are required of all employees. EXPERIENCE &
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have a minimum of 1 year of experience in boat and
shipyard operations.
- Must have good communication skills and follow directions.
- Must be proficient in English.
- Must have or be eligible for a TWIC card.
- Working knowledge of Shipyard operations, welding, carpentry &
